Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q-1. How Eden Centre was established?

Before the year 2000 there was no service center for both physical and intellectual children with disabilities in the country like other country. Only a ‘School for Disabled Children (SDC)’, mainly for intellectual disabilities, which is run by the ‘Department of Social Welfare (DSW). When the founder is working at Spastic Children Association of Penang, Malaysia as a physiotherapist he was told by a friend of him, who is established a residential center for person with disabilities, ‘Eden Handicap Service Centre, Penang’, that “it is a call for you to go back to your country and start this mercy ministry”. The founder replies him that “it is a good idea, I come here to earn money to take care for my wife and two kids back in my country, may be somebody will do it. Now, you are the one who told me to go back to my country and start disability ministry. If it is GOD who want me to do, HE will directly tell to me”.

After working at Malaysia for one year Tha Uke got a better job at ‘St. Luke’s Hospital for the Elderly, Singapore’ as a physiotherapist and work at another two years there. After living separately with his family for nearly three years Tha Uke has taken a leave and went back to Myanmar to visit his family. His daughter has already grown up and enjoy family life fully and taste the blessing of fatherhood. After two weeks together with family it is a time to go back to Singapore to work and earn money for living.

After understanding the parent’s love towards own kids personally the LORD allow him to hear HIS calling to start caring mercy ministry for children with disabilities back in Myanmar through a dream. After hearing that calling Tha Uke has experience a peace in his heart and decided to come back to his mother country without knowing what to do but only firmly believed that GOD, his Father, will never fail. Tha Uke comes back to Myanmar in August 1998 and settle to live at Yangon with his family, they pray together for nearly two years for the guidance of GOD. He met with Ms. Lilian Gyi, a special education teacher, and start learning about children with disabilities in Myanmar slowly.

Tha Uke starts to volunteer to provide physiotherapy services to some physical children with disabilities and on 18th April, 2000 the LORD open a door to have own day care center, establish jointly with Ms. Lilian Gyi and family at Yangon.
