Passion for serving children with disabilities with love and building cohesive healthy society
1. Providing quality care services to maximize the potential growth of children with
disabilities
2. Equipping parents and care
givers with knowledge and skills
3. Raising social model of
disability awareness
4. Strengthening inclusion policies
and practice through collaboration
5. Ensuring sustainability and
continuous growth of Eden Centre
To fulfill our commitment, we have four main
programs:
Objective: Reaching
out the unreached group of children with disabilities as much as possible and
to ensure disabled children fulfill their potential, by providing them with
high quality therapy, social care, education and vocational training; and to
equip families and caregivers with the skills and knowledge.
Rationale: In
Myanmar, majority of children with disabilities cannot access necessary care
services including education. Many education providers are only in urban cities
and very limited service at rural areas.
Services: Eden always try to reach out children with
disabilities to access their fundamental rights to education, rehabilitation
and social care services through the following services:
- At Eden day care
- Outreach and/or
home vis
it program under our various disability projects,
- Online service provision
- Family Based rehabilitation n program
Objective:
To raise community awareness of the
worth and capacity of people with disabilities, leading to their increased
inclusion in mainstream life.
Rationale: In the country ‘Medical Model of Disability’
is still dominant. Active participation of person with disabilities in
community lives need to strengthen. Inclusion is not popular agenda yet.
Services: Implementing various disability
related projects, conducting disability awareness and promoting inclusion in
various sectors, especially in education sector.
Objective: To strengthen and empower the disability support sector (from grass root to
national level), improving services through awareness, training, evidence-based
research, networking & advocacy activities
Rationale: As developing country, mainstreaming
disability by other stakeholders and protecting rights and dignity of persons
with disabilities are still very weak.
Services: Conducting capacity building
training not only for persons with disabilities but also for all other
stakeholders, doing research and evidence-based documents, advocacy and
collaborating with stakeholders, etc.
Objective:
To become an effective and efficient
organization, to play a leading role continuously in disability field in the
country and to become a disability related learning centre in future.
Rationale: There are huge demand in disability field and
many areas still need to improve to be effective and efficient organization.
Services: Capacity building for Eden family
members, transforming to digital office, collaboration with partners.
Disability is caused by the
way society is organized, rather than by a person’s impairment or difference.
It looks at ways of removing barriers that restrict life choices for disabled
people. When barriers are removed, disabled people can be independent and equal
in society, with choice and control over their own lives.
Twin track approach involves providing support for children with disabilities individually, while at the same time promoting generic inclusive strategies.
An approach to curriculum integration which dissolves the boundaries between the conventional disciplines and organizes teaching and learning around the construction of meaning in the context of real-world problems or themes.
FBR involves convincing parents to acknowledge their specific vital role of maximizing their special child’s potential, equipping parent with basic essential knowledge and skill and supporting them warmly and closely with love to have a meaningful childhood by children with disabilities. FBR rekindles the value and spirit offamily lives, which involves parents and children with disabilities, and enjoying it.
